Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To upgrade your Driver License in Daman and Diu the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

5. Application Forms for upgrading driver license can be obtained directly from RTO office. Form 5 and Form 15 (Those who trained through Driving School) Link for forms : form 5 ,form 15
   
6. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
   
7. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
   
8. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
   
9. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   
10. Applicant has to qualify the drive test. Applicant on successful completion of test drive will be asked to get photographed for the license copy and to imprint finger prints. Applicant will get the upgraded License
    
    

Apply Online - Daman and Diu Upgrade your driver license online with Images

1. First one has to make sure that all the required documents are in hand to apply online.
   
2. In order to apply for online, please follow the link : online portal
3. Please select "Online Services" from the menu and click on "Driver License Related Services".
4. You will be taken to a new screen where you have to select “Daman and Diu” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”.
5. In the next window, please click “Apply Online” to select “Services on Driving License” option
   
6. In the new screen please select “Daman and Diu” from the drop down menu and hit “Continue”
   
7. Please select appropriate option and fill in information prompted for, then click “Proceed” to get the new page to apply online by filling the details prompted and upload required documents to process the application.
   
8. Please take printout of Acknowledgement and other documents
   
9. Go to the RTO and submit the document to process further.
   
10. You can take printout of online application form with the help of the link: please follow the link online portal link
    
11. Select “Daman and Diu” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”
    
12. In the next window, please click “Download Forms” to select “Print application form” option
    
13. Please enter your application number in the next window and hit “Submit” to follow the next window to get the printout.
    
14. You can book appointment with RTO using the following link online appointment link. Please click “Appointment (Slot Booking)” on the top bar of the screen and select “Slot booking DL Services” option. In the new window select appropriate option and fill in prompted details and hit submit to process your request to book appointment.
    

• Note : In case the applicant does not pass the test after three appearances, he shall not be qualified to reappear for such test before the expiry of as period of sixty days from date of last such test.
  
  

Apply through Centres:

1. To upgrade a Driver's License in Daman & Diu, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
2. Procure the application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the upgradation of such a license.
3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
5. Now submit the application to the office of the concerned centre.
6. On successful verification, the driver's license will be upgraded by the concerned authority.
7. Obtain the upgraded license from the concerned office/CSC centre.

5. Documents of vehicle in which applicant proposes to appear for test of competence to drive (such as Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate, Tax Card, Pollution under Control Certificate, Fitness Certificate in case of Transport Vehicle).
   
6. Consent letter from vehicle owner, to conduct driving test in his vehicle if the vehicle is not owned by the applicant.

Eligibility

• The person should have a valid driving license
  
• Should have completed 20 years of age for Transport Vehicles with 1 year experience in LMV
  

Fees

• Fee details can be provided by the RTO authorities
  

Validity

• A Driving License for a non transport vehicle is valid up to a period of 20 years or an age of 50 years whichever is earlier, and 5 years thereafter.
  
• Transport Vehicle License is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue or renewal.
  

Note:' One can apply for a permanent license only after a month after receiving Learner's License

Need for the Document

• The need for upgrading from a valid driving license arises for the purpose of driving other vehicles. Other vehicles refer to the ones that are not covered under the current license.
  
• If a person who has a valid driving license to drive non transport vehicle and wanted to drive transport vehicle, then one needs to get his driving license upgraded.
  
• A driving license is an official document that states that a person may operate one or more types of motorized vehicles, such as a motorcycle, car, truck, or a bus, on a public roadway.
  
• Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988 in India, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving License issued to him, authorizing him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
  
• Driving without Driving license is an offense. Incumbent has to pay penalty
