Procedure

Apply In-Person
As a first step, get the FIR from the applicable police station for the lost or stolen permit. If you have the damaged piece of permit, then you can submit the same as proof.

1. To apply for duplicate truck permit in Chandigarh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Please follow our “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page to get details of the RTO offices.
   
2. Make sure you have completed application form for duplicate truck permit. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees

• Validity won’t change
  
• Usually Permit is valid for 5 years and the Duplicate permit too valid for the original validity period as per the issued date
  
• Usually the renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO

Need for the Document

• A Regional Transport Authority may, on an application made to it under Rule 174 (iv) of the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 grant a goods carriage permit to be valid throughout the State
• Truck Permit is needed for a vehicle operator to ply his vehicle to carry goods from one place to another.

• Be used only in a specified area or on a specified route or routes
• That goods of a specified nature shall not be carried
• That goods shall be carried at specified rates etc.;,

• The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.

• Holder of the permit shall furnish to the Regional Transport Authority such periodical returns, statistics and other information as the State Government may, from time to time, prescribe.
  
• FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
