British Columbia - Obtain a Certified Copy of Death Registration

To obtain a certified copy of a death registration:
- Ensure that you are eligible for a registration.
- Paying a prescribed fee of $50.
- Apply to the Vital Statistics Agency by:
- Mailing a completed application form: http://www.vs.gov.bc.ca/forms/vsa430d_fill.pdf and cheque to the Vital Statistics Agency at PO BOX 9657 STN PROV GOVT, Victoria BC V8W 9P3
- Complete an application form: http://www.vs.gov.bc.ca/forms/vsa430d_fill.pdf and file it personally at your nearest Vital Statistics Office
- Order via Credit Card over the telephone.
- Online Application: https://ecos.vs.gov.bc.ca/

EligibilityEdit
- The nearest living relative of the deceased
- A medical practitioner who requires the copy of extract for use in the treatment of a member of the deceased's immediate family, if the family member's illness, in the opinion of the medical practitioner, may be life threatening
- A person who is authorized by a court order to be issued the copy or extract
- An officer of any provincial government or the government of Canada who requires the copy or extract for use in the discharge of official duties
- Any person, if more than 20 years have passed since the death of the deceased
- Any other person who satisfies the chief executive officer concerning the good faith of the person's cause for requiring the copy or extract
