Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To Request for Consolidation or Sub-Division of Land, the interested applicant should visit the District or Sub-District Council Office within the area of jurisdiction. Botswana District or Sub-District Council Office Contact details
2. Applicants are required to collect either the Application for Customary or Common Land Right depending on the intended use. Copies of the Application Form are available for free at any of the District or Sub-District Council Office or Botswana Land Board or Sub Land Board offices countrywide or directly download it using this link;Application for Customary Land Rights Form,Application for Common Law Land Rights Form
3. The application form duly completed in all respect, and the supporting documentation as listed under “Required Document” of this page should be submitted to the District or Sub-District Council Office within the area of the applicants’ jurisdiction.
4. The receiving official will then verify that all the necessary documentation and information have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the application file for processing.
5. Applicant should visit the District or Sub-District Council Office, where the application was filed after the lapse of the processing period, which is within one month, to check the outcome.
6. If successful, the applicant will be issued with an approval letter against the identity card and acknowledgment letter, as proof of submission of the application.
7. The applicant should then submit the approval letter to the Land Board for issuance of the new title.

Fees

No fee associated with the service; unless there is the desire to convert to common law lease whereat the costs are outlined under conversions.
