How to Apply
Apply In-Person
- Applicant {keeper} should visit the ministry of agriculture headquarter office or the nearest Veterinary District Office, department of veterinary service for the registration process {see office location & contact section below for address details below}.
- Submit the supporting documents {see required document section below} to the registrar, you will then be required to state the type of livestock that you keep (cattle; poultry; sheep; goats etc.) the location of the farm (zone, district, extension area) and their numbers.
- The registrar will up load the information into the BAITS computer system and the Livestock Keeper ID number will be automatically generated by the system.
- You will then be required to pay for the livestock keeper registration card fee at the cash counter upon which you will be issued with a payment receipt.
- If the registration application process is made at the Ministry Headquarters the keeper will get the card immediately, at Districts the farmer will get the card in seven to fourteen days against the payment receipt and identification document.

- Applicant should visit the Link and log in with their credential {User name and password} if registered.
- If you are not registered, you should visit the ministry of agriculture office or nearest Veterinary District Office with your identification document to be registered and obtain your login credential from the registrar.
- Upon login in, locate the registration as a livestock keeper form, and fill it accurately, upload all the required documents as listed on the site and submit them to be process.
- If online payment is applicable, please make the necessary payment before submit the application.
- After processing of the application, you will be notified by mail on when and how to obtain the livestock keeper registration card.

- A valid National Identity Card (Omang) or a Birth Certificate for citizens (Original or certified).
- A valid Resident Permit and valid Passport for non-citizens (Original or certified).
- A valid Company’s Registration Certificate for companies.

EligibilityEdit
The following are eligible to apply;
- Valid National Identity Card (Omang) and children under 16 years a Birth Certificate
- Non-citizens need to have a valid Resident Permit.
- Companies need to be in possession of a valid Company's Registration Certificate.
FeesEdit
- The Livestock keeper card cost is BWP10.00.
ValidityEdit
- The card is valid for 2 years and renewable their after.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- This service allows Livestock Keepers to be registered and allocated a Livestock Keeper ID in BAITS, this is linked with the electronically Identified Cattle, Brands Registration and location.
- The aim of this registration process is to facilitates the build-up of a farmers’ data base, which will identify the different livestock keepers and the specific livestock types. The data base has linkages to animal registration and Identification, movement control; farm management records and Cattle ownership verification.
