Apply In Person.
- A registered architect, architectural technologist, or architectural draftsperson who intends to practice or manage the performance of the work of an architect shall apply to the Architects Registration Council for a practicing certificate. ARC Contact and Map Location Details
- Applicants are required to collect and complete the Application Form for practicing certificate, obtainable at the Architects’ Registration Council (ARC) office or download it via the ARC website ARC practicing certificate Form or directly download t using this link, Application Form for practicing certificate
- Submit the completed form in all respect and attached it to the supporting documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” Section of this page, to the ARC registration and licensing office. Any omission of the supporting documents will render the application process incomplete.
- Upon receipt of the application file, the ARC registrar will verify if all the information and documentation are in order, before registering the application to be forwarded for assessment, processing, and consideration by Registration Committee which is within 30 days provided everything is in order.
- Applicants will be required to pay the practicing certificate fee, (Refer to the “Fee” section of this page), which is payable either by depositing it into the ARC account or can be received through the Point of Sale (POS) machine (swiping machine) at the ARC offices. Alternatively, you can pay by cheque written in favour of the Architects Registration Council.
- Applicants will be issued with an ARC payment receipt and an acknowledgment letter, which serves as proof of submission of the application and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
- The Registration Committee shall approve the applicant to be issued the practicing certificate for the different categories by the registrar if the Registrar is satisfied that-
- The applicant is registered with the Architects’ Registration Council (ARC)
- The applicant is not suspended from practice.
- The applicant has paid the annual practicing certificate fee.
- The applicant has obtained a Fidelity Fund Certificate; and
- Has paid, if any, all administrative fines imposed on him or her.
- Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the application will be communicated to the client by letter.
- If approved, the committee will direct the registrar to register the applicant and draw up the practicing certificate to be issued to the client, upon presenting their identity document and approval letter to be validated by the registrar's office at the ARC.
- If your application was not successful, you will be notified of that outcome. You may then be refunded the money. You can re-apply or appeal the decision to the Architects’ Registration Council (ARC) office.

- All registered architects, architectural technologists, or architectural draftspersons (Citizens and non-citizens) with the Architects’ Registration Council (ARC) are eligible to apply.
FeesEdit
- practicing certificate fee:
- Architect P 2,750.00
- Arch. Technologist P 2,000.00
- Arch. Draftsperson P 1,500.00
PAYMENT METHOD NOTES:
- The accepted method of payment is direct deposits into the ARC bank account or using your debit or credit card at the POS machine available at the ARC offices.
- No cash will be accepted at ARC Offices. Cheques sent to ARC by post will also not be accepted. ARC will take no responsibility for cheques lost in the post or intercepted and fraudulently banked in another party’s bank account.
- When payments are made at the Bank, an applicant must quote their full name as the reference.
ValidityEdit
- The valid of the Practicing Certificate shall be for a period not exceeding one year from the date of issue unless suspended, revoked, or canceled by the authority.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The practicing certificate allows a person to lawfully execute the works of an Architect in a position of responsibility and/or at a fee. The Practising certificate expires annually. An architectural professional needs to ensure that they renew their practicing certificate promptly and meet all the requirements.
Information which might helpEdit
- An Architect Registration Certificate shows that one has met the requirements to join the Architectural profession under regulations by ARC. Once granted, it does not expire. The Registration Certificate alone does not allow one too lawfully to perform architectural work, you also need a current Practicing certificate
