Procedure

Apply In Person

1. An application for a Mineral Dealers Licence (Semi-Precious Stone) shall be made to the Department of Mines, Housed at Ministry of Basic Education building floor 4 Ministry of Basic Education Office Location & Contact Details
2. The application shall be made in writing using a prescribed form, the Semi-Precious Stones Dealer’s License Application Form, obtainable at the Department of mines office or directly download it using this Semi-Precious Stones Dealer’s License Application Form
3. The completed application form attached to all supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents” should be submitted to the Department of mine office for processing.
4. Upon receipt of the application, it is checked for completeness and correctness by a Department officer before it is registered for processing and consideration by the Department director/authorized official.
5. The are no service fees associated with the issue of the mineral dealer license.
6. Applicants are issued with an acknowledgment receipt that proves submission of the application file and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
7. Applicants should visit the Department office, where the application was filed to check the outcome after thirty (30) days.
8. If approved, the permit/license will be drawn up, signed, and stamped by the authorized office and made available for withdrawal by the applicant in person at the Department dispatch office, where the application was lodged.
9. The applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document and acknowledgment letter while collecting the mineral dealer's license.

Required Documents

• Duly completed and signed Semi-Precious Stones Dealer’s License Application Form
• In the case of companies: certified copy of valid identities of shareholders and Certificate of incorporation.
• In the case of individuals: certified copy of valid  National identity card (Omang) or Copy of Passport for non-citizens.
• Business report. on where the stones will be sourced and how the value will be added e.g. cutting, polishing.

• There are no service fees associated with the issue of the mineral dealer license.

Validity

• The validity of the license shall be mentioned on the document and shall remain valid for the period stipulated on the document unless suspended, revoked, or cancelled by the Authority.
