Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To open a Group or Association Account, one must visit the nearest Post Office. Check the “Office Location & Contacts” section for list of locations where this service is available.
2. Complete the following forms
   • Depositor’s Book Link to Download Form
   • Post Office Savings Bank Personal Information Update Form Link
3. Submit completed application forms along with relevant supporting documents.
4. Deposit at least BS$3.00 to the account.
5. The Clerk at the Bank will issue a Pass Book.
6. For withdrawals, two officers need to be present.

Eligibility

• Applicant must be 12 years or older.
• Children under 12 years of age must have a Trustee.
• The Organization must have two or more officers to sign on the account.

Fees

There are no fees for this service.

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.

Processing Time

The timeframe varies depending on the location where the service is offered:
• Five minutes at the General Post Office in Nassau
• Two to three working days at the Sub Offices

All citizens and businesses can open a savings account at the Bahamas Post Offices. The Savings bank at the Post Office is a thrift bank as opposed to a Commercial Bank.
