Bahamas - Obtain Aircraft Airworthiness Certificate

Apply In-Person
- The Applicant has to submit an application in Form 6 to the Department of Civil Aviation. Visit the following link for Contact Details Link.
- The Applicant can collect the Form from the office of the Department of Civil Aviation or at the office of the Flight Standards Inspectorate.
- The Applicant can also download the Form from the following Form Link.
- Complete the application form with all details.
- After filling in all the details submit the Application Form along with the supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section to the Department Civil Aviation.
- The Airworthiness Coordinator or Maintenance Post holder is responsible for ensuring that the aircraft and its associated records meet the standards and requirements.
- If the physical inspection of the aircraft and its associated records is satisfactory, the Airworthiness Inspector will make a recommendation to the Civil Aviation department that the certificate of airworthiness may be issued.
- If deficiencies are found during the inspection, the Airworthiness Inspector will raise Findings for the Airworthiness Coordinator or Maintenance Postholder to correct. When Findings have been corrected and evidence of the corrective actions has been provided to the Inspector (e.g. copies of log book entries, copies of documents, photographs etc.) for their review and agreement that the Finding can be closed.
- When the Inspector is satisfied that all the findings have been corrected, they will make a recommendation for the Certificate of Airworthiness be issued.
- Once approved, the applicant will be informed through the proper communication channel.
- The applicant should then visit the office to collect the certificate.

A registered owner or owner's agent of an aircraft may apply for an airworthiness certificate.

ValidityEdit
The Certificate will normally be valid for a period of 12 months from the date of issue, unless satisfactory maintenance arrangements are made by a long term contract with an appropriate organisation. In such cases, the Certificate may be valid for a period of 24 months.
