ProcedureEdit

  1. Complete an application form to renew your educator license. Link to download the form is provided under the 'Documents to Use' section. The form must be printed on a legal size (8 by 14) sheet of paper.
  2. Pay the renewal fee. The fee can be paid online (OR) you can attach a money order or cashiers check (DO NOT SEND CASH) to the application for the correct fee made out to the Arkansas Department of Education.
  3. Before you send out your application and payment, contact the Office of Educator Licensure for other documents you will need to include in your application (contact number is provided below).
  4. Your application and payment must be sent to the Office of Educator Licensure.

NOTE: Incomplete applications will be returned without action, with omissions checked.

EligibilityEdit

Standard Educator License Renewal:

All teachers and administrators must be able to document the required professional development hours annually for the renewal of their standard teaching license. All professional development must be completed within either of the following cycles during each year: June 1 to May 31 or July 1 to June 30.

The 60 hour professional development component began with the 2005/2006 school year and concluded with the 2013/2014 school year. Beginning with the 2014/2015 school year, a standard licensed teacher will be required to maintain a minimum of 36 professional development hours per school year.

Notes:

  • Requirements above only pertain to renewing a license, not your employer's requirements.
  • A license expired for more than a year requires 60 hours of professional development completed within a year of applying for renewal.



FeesEdit

Renewal fee for a standard license (5 year): $75

The fee for a license can be paid online (OR) you can attach a money order or cashiers check (DO NOT SEND CASH) to the application for the correct fee made out to the Arkansas Department of Education.



ValidityEdit

A standard, five-year Arkansas Educator License has a beginning date of January 1 of the year it is issued and an expiration date of December 31 of the fifth year.
