ProcedureEdit
- The applicant shall visit the respective RTO office to get details of the green tax for the respective vehicles.

Pay In-Person
- To pay vehicle tax (Green Tax) in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the applicant shall approach the office of the motor vehicle department, Directorate of Transport. Find the contacts in the link provided: Link.
- Get the application form from the concerned office for vehicle tax.
- Fill out the application form appropriately with all the necessary details.
- Make sure to have all the necessary documents to be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Provide authorised signatory wherever applicable.
- Now make the requisite payment and collect the receipt from the concerned officials to complete the process.
Pay Online:
- To pay vehicle tax (Green Tax), the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
- In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
- The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
- Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
- The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
- Please follow the steps to complete the application.

EligibilityEdit
- Motor Vehicles other than a transport vehicle which has completed 15 years from the date of registration should pay the green tax.
- Transport Vehicle which has completed 8 years from the date of its registration should pay the green tax.
- The vehicle owner or the family members (Age - 18 years and above) also can pay the tax.
FeesEdit
- The green tax for a vehicle is arrived based on the road tax. A fixed percentage (10%/25%/or the percentage as per norms) of the road tax is collected as green tax. The percentage varies with respect to the pollution level of the particular state.

- The tax paid will be valid for the period based on the vehicle type for which the tax is paid.
- The validity can be five years or three years or as per the validity sanctioned for the vehicle based on the condition of the vehicle and government norms.

- Vehicles used for agriculture (tractor and harvester) are exempted from green tax).
- While making online payment, please provide the correct registration number of the vehicle.
- Before proceeding to make the payment, please confirm the amount as per the tax details page.
- The applicant shall pay the tax as per the available tax mode (quarterly/annually).
- The applicant should make sure that the registered mobile number is hand and active while paying the tax online.

- The tax (green tax) is intended to discourage people from using vehicles which damage the environment and motivates the user to switch to newer alternatives.
- Green tax for vehicles was introduced to discourage owners from driving older vehicles.
- A vehicle with up-to-date tax clearance is mandatory for obtaining permits, to ride without any penalty, to process FC, etc.
