Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for the Indigenous Languages and Cultures Program (Northern Aboriginal Broadcasting), the applicant can approach the Department of Canadian Heritage. Here is the contact Link
  2. The applicant will need to contact the Department of Canadian Heritage to obtain the application form. Find contact details under the “Office location and contacts” section of this page.
  3. Fill out the application form with all the relevant details.
  4. The applicant will need to attach copies of all required documents, find a list of documents under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Submit the application form in person to the address mentioned under the “Office location and contacts” section of this page.
  6. The applicant does not need to pay fees.
  7. Once submitted, the application form will be forwarded to the relevant authorities.
  8. The applicant shall receive all communications and their results by email. It will take two weeks to process the application.

Incorporated applicants:

  • Two identical budgets
  • A copy of incorporated documents
  • A copy of the Constitution and bylaws of the organization
  • A copy of the executive and Board of directors
  • A resolution approved by the board of directors confirming who can sign on behalf of the organization for the project the applicant is submitting
  • A blank cheque (voided) and section A of the Direct deposit form duly completed
  • A copy of your broadcasting license/letter from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission / Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.


Non-incorporated community groups or ad hoc committees:

  • The Unincorporated applicant's acceptance of liability form
  • The names and titles of the members of the community group or ad-hoc committee (individuals or organizations)
  • Qualifications and relevant experience of the community group or ad-hoc committee members to carry out the project
  • Three references who can attest to the knowledge and experience of group or committee members, to confirm that they can carry out the project
  • A description of the structures/staff and processes within the group or committee that will ensure the successful completion of the proposed project
  • A copy of the financial statements related to the two most recent years (audited or not), when the group or committee is applying for $100,000 or more. This requirement may be waived for a new or emerging community group or committee’s application in the first year
  • A blank cheque (voided) and section A of the Direct deposit form duly completed (unless an account is already set up with the Department of Canadian Heritage.)
  • A copy of the applicant’s broadcasting license/letter from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission / Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.


Indigenous governments or band councils:

  • A resolution approved by the First Nation Chief, Indigenous government, or band council confirming who can sign on behalf of the First Nation for the project you are submitting.
  • A blank cheque (voided) with section A of the Direct deposit form completed
  • A copy of your broadcasting license/letter from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission / Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.
