Procedure

1. Transfer of vehicle registration from one state to another state happens whenever the vehicle is sold to a person in another state and if the owner himself settles in a new state.
   
2. The main document for this purpose is NOC from the home state RTO. (Please check with local RTO whether NOC is required before processing)
   
3. In order to transfer vehicle from another state, Applicant has to apply and get NOC as stated above from their home state RTO
   
4. With the NOC in hand the applicant can approach the RTO for his area to do this procedure.

6. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : Application forms
   
7. Make sure you have completed application form Form-27.
   
8. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
   
9. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
   
10. Present the completed application forms along with documents in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
    
11. Pencil tracing of engine chassis number is the activity to record the chassis number against the registration number in the RTO register
    
12. Authorities will inspect the vehicle and announce the registration number
    
13. After necessary verification, the applicant is given a token of receipt for the period till he receives the RC
    
14. The Vehicle Registration Certificate is issued to the applicant within one month
    
    

Apply Online

1. Please use the link to reach online portal Parivahan : Online
   
2. Enter the registration Number as prompted and hit “PROCEED”
   
3. New screen will open to give options to choose. Choose “Misc (TO/CoA/HPA/HPC/HPT/DupRC)” to get new screen.
   
4. Enter your Chassis number and click the button next to chassis number box
   
5. In the new screen select appropriate option and Please fill in the prompted details and also provide your mobile number to get OTP and hit “Generate OTP”
   
6. Please enter the OTP at the column provided and click “Show details” to get the next screen.
   
7. Select appropriate option to get the online form. Fill the details and upload required documents as prompted.
   
8. As final step you have to make payment by using credit / debit card via online and take printout of application and other required details.
   
9. You can then send this application along with bunch of required documents to the RTO or handover personally.
   
10. If the documents are satisfactory, then RTO will dispatch smart card
    
    

Apply through Centres:

1. To Transfer Other State Vehicle, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
2. Procure the application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the process.
3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
5. Now submit the application to the office of the concerned centre.
6. On successful verification, the applicant will be notified by the CSC centre.

Validity

• In case of non-transport vehicles like two wheelers and cars, the registration certificate is valid for 15 years from the date of first registration and it is renewed after every five subsequent years.
  
• In case of transport vehicles like goods and passenger carriers the registration certificate is valid till certificate of fitness is valid.
