How to apply
- The office in Charge for issuing Export Health Certificate is the Veterinary Service Division (VSD) under the ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries (MICAF). Please view the ministry’s contact information in the “Office Locations & Contacts” or via their website: Link
- Obtain the application form in person from MICAF office or download it form their website: Link (go to page 3 to download the form “Application for Export Health Certificate”). You can also download the from form the link provided in the “Documents to Use” section below
- But first obtain all the necessary certificates and documents of the product or animal you wish to export, in case of animals obtain veterinary medical documents form a registered private veterinarian
- Complete the application form and attach all the supporting documents to it
- Pay the application fee of the export health certificate at the VSD cashier by cash, debit or credit card, company cheque or manager’s cheque and obtain the payment receipt
- Then submit the complete application to the Permit Office, Veterinary Services Division (VSD) 193 Old Hope Road, in person or scanned and emailed to the following: Email: [email protected] or faxed to (876) 977-0885. Please note that TRN information is mandatory.
- The VSD official will verify your application and assign a government inspector to inspect your product or animals for export
- You will be notified of the inspection date and required to isolate the animal or products to be exported.
- On the date of the inspection the VSD inspector will examine the said products of animals and forward the results to the VSD responsible authority for informed decision making.
- Once it has been determined that you application has meet all the required standards, the export health certificate will be processed and issued to you.

The following may require an export health certificate depending on the import requirements of the importing country:
- Milk and Milk by-products;
- Honey;
- Poultry and poultry by-products;
- Meat and Meat by-products;
- Beef and beef by-products;
- Ornamental fish;
- Fish and Fishery by-products and
- Live animals

- An application for Export Health Certificate must be completed and submitted to the VSD in order to make an appointment for inspection for export. An appointment for inspection for export with the government veterinarian for all live animals is mandatory 48hrs before departure. All animals for export must be present for the scheduled appointment along with all supporting veterinary medical records from a private veterinarian licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Jamaica.
