Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To apply for the replacement of a cruising permit in Jamaica, you have to submit your applicationto the Maritime Authority of Jamaica. Please view MAJ contact details via this link:Link
2. If your cruising permit is lost, damaged, or stolen, report the incident to the Jamaica Customs Office at the nearest port and complete a Declaration of Lost Certificate as soon as possible
3. Then obtain the application form for replacing the permit from the Maritime Authority of Jamaica office
4. Complete the application form correctly
5. Then prepare all the supporting documents and attach them to the application form
6. Then visit the MAJ’s office and pay the replacement fee and obtain the payment receipt
7. Then submit the complete application to the MAJ official at the service unit
8. The officer will review the application and if it is deemed to be complete, the official will forward the application to the relevant authority for processing
9. Then the application will be processed and you will be issued with a new cruise permit.

4. Select the “Apply for a Replacement Cruising Permit” tab to be directed to the online application form
5. Complete the online form carefully providing all the required information and declarations and then click on the “Submit Application” button to complete the application
6. Pay the replacement fee using the provided online platform and MAJ will send you a confirmation of the application to your email
7. Then they will process and issue you a replacement of the cruising permit

• The permit is valid for six months upon clearance into Jamaica however USA vessels permit is valid for one year

Instructions

• A cruising permit may be issued by the Custom's Department upon arrival of a vessel in Jamaica or after arrival but not after the vessel has commenced cruising.
• It is a breach of the Law for a foreign vessel to cruise Jamaican waters without a Cruising Permit. It is also a breach of monetary or other gifts to be given to Government Officials, to facilitate certification for Cruising.
