Apply In-Person:
- To apply for a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance (Police record) in Jamaica the applicant must make the application to the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JFC).
- The first step in making the application, the applicant has to pay for the clearance certificate. This is done by the applicant visiting any Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) Office with their Tax Registration Number (TRN) and make payment for the certificate.
- The application fees to be paid are mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
- Upon making the payment and receiving the payment receipt, the applicant should visits the JFC website to make the application.
- In the website homepage, click on the Police Record button at the top of the page to access the Police Certificate Management System where the applicant can begin the application process.
- The applicant should fill in all the required information and upload all the required documents and click on the “Submit” button to proceed with the application. A list of the required documents can be found in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- On the next page, the applicant should scroll to the bottom of the page where they will find a calendar.
- The applicant should then select a date when they can visit the Criminal Records Office to have their fingerprints taken and interviewed by the Criminal Records Officers.
- After selecting a date of appointment to visit the Criminal Records Office, the applicant will receive an email with the completed application. The applicant should then download and print the application form and take it with the on the day of the appointment.
- The Police Records Office is located at 56 Duke Street, Downtown Kingston.
- On the day of appointment day the applicant should visit Criminal Records Office with the following documents.
- (i) One of the following valid government-issued identification (local applicants):
- (a) Driver’s License
- (b)Elector Identification card
- (c)Passport
- (ii) A hard copy of the completed application form.
- (iii) One (1) passport-sized photograph (same as uploaded)
- (iv) Receipt obtained from TAJ
- (i) One of the following valid government-issued identification (local applicants):
- Upon visiting the Criminal Records Office the applicants fingerprint will be processed and a brief interview will be conducted by the Criminal Records Officer.
- The applicant will be notified by the officers in charge on the date to collect their NBI Clearance (Police Record) and they will be given a claim receipt to present when collecting their clearance certificate.
- When the clearance certificate is ready the applicant will be contacted through a telephone call or SMS to collect their certificate.
- On the collection date the applicant will have to produce the claim receipt and proof of identification when collecting their certificate.
- Completed police records must be collected at: 'Police Officers Club, 34 Hope Road, Kingston 6' between '9:00 am and 2:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays.'
Note:
- The processing time depends on the service fee paid. The time can vary between 1 ,5 or 21 working days.

- Two passport-sized photographs (should NOT be certified or embossed)
- One of the following pieces of VALID identification – passport, national identification card or driver’s license
- If the police record is for overseas/travelling purposes, a VALID passport must be presented
- Payment Receipt obtained from (Tax Administration of Jamaica ) TAJ Office
Persons living overseas must submit the following documents:
- Fingerprints (signed and stamped by the police or reputable agency in your country of residence. The name of the person taking the fingerprints must be clearly stated on the document
- Two passport-sized photographs (May be signed but NOT embossed)
- Bio-data page of passport (must be certified)
- If sent by FedEx or DHL, a return label must be sent if the document is to be sent back to the receiving destination via the same method
- Bank draft/money order made payable to the Commissioner of Police.

- Jamaican citizen and residents of Jamaica residing in Jamaica or abroad can apply for the clearance certificate.
FeesEdit
- JMD $3,000 – Regular Service (21 working days)
- JMD $6,000 – Express Service (5 working days) NB- Please be advised that appointments are scheduled for the earliest possible date available.
- JMD $8,000 – Next Day Service

- The clearance certificate is valid for a period of one year.

- Payment for the clearance certificate can be made at any Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) Office with your Tax Registration Number (TRN).
- Please be advised that appointments for Express Services are scheduled for the earliest possible date available.
- Passport-sized photos submitted SHOULD NOT be certified or embossed.
- A passport is the only valid identification needed for overseas purposes requiring a Police Record/Certificate.
- Expungement and transmission fingerprints are walk-in services and do not require an appointment.
- The online appointment is currently not offered for sub-sites in St. Mary, St. James, and Clarendon.
