ProcedureEdit

The Isle of Man driving licence is issued in 2 parts:

  • Part 1: A photo card containing the license holder's photograph, name and address and date of birth of the driver. The format of the photo card is similar to the European Community Driving Licence.
  • Part 2 : A paper that includes additional details and restrictions of the license.

Both parts must be signed and kept by its holder for the license to be valid. Both parts also show the categories of vehicles the holder is entitled to drive, either as a qualified driver ('F' = 'Full licence') or as a leaner driver ('P' = 'Provisional entitlement'). Restrictions on the driving entitlements are shown by code numbers alongside each category, and their meanings are explained on part 2 of the license.
