Procedure

Here's how you can apply for a petrol license in Isle of man:

1. You will need to complete an application form. You can download a copy of the form online through Isle of Man Government Website (a link is provided under 'Documents to Use' section).
2. Provide all the required information:
   1. Full name of sole trader. If a Firm, the name of each partner in full. If a Company, the name of the Company and its Secretary
   2. Trading Address and contact telephone number
   3. Quantity of petrol products
3. Prepare all the documents you will be submitting together with your application form.
4. Submit all your documents to the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading.
5. Pay the licence cost. Cheques payable to "Isle of Man Government."

Eligibility

It is unlawful to store over 10 litres of petrol without a licence in Isle of man

If you are a sole trader, a firm or a company you will need to apply for a licence.

The rule applies wherever petrol is stored including:

• in your home, in your garage
• in a workshop
• at motorsport events

Fees

Cost of licence:

• To keep petroleum spirit in a quantity not exceeding 2,500 litres: Licence cost £45 (up to 12 months)
• To keep petroleum spirit in a quantity exceeding 2,500 litres but not exceeding 50,000 litres: Licence cost £87.50 (up to 12 months)
• To keep petroleum spirit in a quantity exceeding 50,000 litres: Licence cost £175 (up to 12 months)

Cheques payable to "Isle of Man Government"

Validity

Petrol licenses are valid for up to 12 months.
