ProcedureEdit

For births that occurred in a hospital/care centres or at home:

  1. Go to the Municipal registry to register the birth.
  2. Submit application form along with all other required documents.
  3. Once the authenticity of the documents are verified by the officer, he/she will register the birth in the books.
  4. The officer will then print the certificate of registration of birth , this will give the respondent the opportunity to review all the information in the registration certificate.
  5. After reviewing all the information on the registration certificate, the officer will sign the document to formalize the applicants registration.
  6. The birth certificate will be printed and issued to the respondent , as proof that the procedure was successfully completed.


Registration for abandoned children (biological parents unknown):

  1. Go to the Municipal registry to register the abandoned child.
  2. Interested person requesting the registration of abandoned children shall submit an application form along with all other required documents.
  3. Once the authenticity of the documents are verified by the officer, he/she will register the child in the registration book of children who have been abandoned in the system.
  4. The officer will then print the certificate of registration of children in abandonment , this will give the respondent the opportunity to review all the information in the registration certificate.
  5. After reviewing all the information on the registration certificate, the officer will sign the document to formalize the applicants registration.
  6. The certificate of registration will be printed and issued to the respondent , as proof that the procedure was successfully completed.


For births that occurred abroad:

  1. Go to the Municipal registry to register the birth of the child abroad.
  2. Submit application form along with all other required documents.
  3. Once the authenticity of the documents are verified by the officer, he/she will register the birth in the registration book of births in the Civil Registration System , Birth registration of Hondurans living abroad.
  4. The officer will then print the certificate of registration of birth , this will give the respondent the opportunity to review all the information in the registration certificate.
  5. After reviewing all the information on the registration certificate, the officer will sign the document to formalize the applicants registration.
  6. The birth certificate will be printed and issued to the respondent , as proof that the procedure was successfully completed.

Required DocumentsEdit

Births that Occurred in a hospital or care centres:

  • Hospital Report, signed and stamped by the competent authority.
  • Identity card or Minor's Identity Card. In case this is not available, parents may present their birth certificates. Failure to present any of these documents may cause suspension or refusal in registering the birth.
  • For foreigners, passport or identification issued from the country where the parents are from.


Births that occurred at home:

  • Report of the midwife who attended to the birth of the child.
  • Identity card or Minor's Identity Card. In case this is not available, parents may present their birth certificates. Failure to present any of these documents may cause suspension or refusal in registering the birth.
  • For foreigners, passport or identification issued from the country where the parents are from.


For abandoned children (biological parents unknown):

  • Judgment of the Civil Court of Childhood and Adolescence, assigning at least a name and a surname to the child.
  • If the child was taken in by a charitable institution, documents must be presented as proof that the declarant is the legal representative stated by the Court of Children and Family, and is entitled to apply for registration. The registered name will be declared by the respondent , with the limitations stated in Article 51 of the Law of RNP.


Births that occurred abroad:

  • Certificate of birth authenticated by the Embassy of Honduras in the place/country of birth and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or apostille , as appropriate.
  • If the document is written in foreign language, it must be translated in spanish.
  • Certification (heading) of the original birth certificate of the birth parents for Hondurans, it must be dated earlier than 6 months.
  • Request addressed to the Director of the RNP.
  • Original Copy of all documents.
  • Folders and legal size fasteners.

Those who may register the birth of the child:

  • Parents of the child
  • Relatives of the child living under the same household and is aware of the birth of the child.
  • Individual who had attended to the childbirth or authorized person from a child welfare institution who is responsible for the custody of child.

Processing TimeEdit

Your application for birth registration will be processed immediately. For registration of births occurring abroad, in may take a month for the whole process to be completed.

InstructionsEdit

Every birth must be registered within one year following its occurence, in the Municipal Civil Registry where the incident occurred or the Municipal Civil Registry where the parents are domiciled. In case the birth was not filed within that period, the birth may still be registered through the Departmental Civil Registry Office. For births that occurred abroad, registration may be done any day.
