1. To Obtain Personal Bond and Power of Attorney under Mineral Lease or Prospecting Permit or License for Mining, the applicant has to approach the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management district offices link

   Note: The Bureau of Land Management Headquarters Office in Washington, D.C., the BLM operates 12 state offices that have jurisdiction across the nation. The applicant can choose their nearby district offices to submit the application form.

2. An application form will be provided to the applicant or the applicant can download the form from the given following link

8. The BLM (Bureau of land management) will examine the application for completeness and accuracy.
9. Once all the verification process is done by the authority, the applicant receives a notification through a mail.
10. The processing time for this procedure is up to 15-30 days.

Need for the Document

• The principal may furnish a personal bond in lieu of a surety bond to ensure compliance with all the terms and conditions of a plan of operations on public land. And a power of attorney is a legal document that gives someone the right to make financial or business decisions for someone else.

Information which might help

• BLM will demand payment from the applicant’s bond to cover any obligations on default. The bond will be reduced accordingly. If the surety makes a payment, BLM will reduce the face amount of the surety bond and the surety's liability by the amount of the payment.

Personal bonds may be in the form of:

• Cashier's check
• Certified check; or
• Negotiable U.S. Treasury bonds equal in value to the bond amount. If the applicant submits Treasury bonds, they must give the Secretary full authority to sell the securities if the applicant default on their permit or lease obligations.
