Wyoming - How to Obtain a graduate Driver license

ProcedureEdit

  1. Appear in person at your local driver exam office to be photographed.
  2. Surrender your current Wyoming learner's permit or restricted license to the examiner.
  3. Pass a vision screening and present proof that you have completed the requirement of 50 hours of behind-the-wheel driving time.
  4. Sign the application form with your parent or legal guardian; or their signature must be notarized on the form.
  5. Pay the fee.
  6. The intermediate permit must be held for a minimum period of six months or until you turn 17 years of age.
  7. If you have held an intermediate permit for six months, and have completed an approved driver's education course, then you can apply for full driving privileges at the minimum age of 16 1/2 yrs.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Valid U.S. passport or state-certified birth certificate
  • Proof of Social Security Number (W-2 form, IRS tax form, SSN card, etc.)
  • Two (2) current forms of proof of Wyoming residency (see below under Proof of Residency)
  • Proof of a name change (such as a marriage certificate, divorce decree, court order, etc.) if your name is now different or has changed from your birth certificate or U.S. passport.
Proof of Social Security Number

You are required to present (1) of the following as proof of your Social Security number:

  • Social Security card,
  • Bank Statement with your complete SSN on it,
  • W-2 form with your complete SSN on it, OR

Any other government or official document that displays your complete Social Security number.

Proof of Residency

You are required to present any two (2) of the below acceptable documents to prove you are a Wyoming resident:

  • Lease agreement, rent or utility receipt in your name with your residential address (NOT P.O. box #)
  • Proof of Wyoming voter registration
  • Vehicle registration form in your name with your Wyoming residential address (NOT P.O. box #)

If you do not have these documents, you must contact the Cheyenne headquarters help desk at 307-777-4810 for assistance and information concerning other possible acceptable documents that could prove you are a resident of Wyoming.

EligibilityEdit

  • You should be at least 16 years old;
  • You have held a learner's permit for at least 10 days; and
  • You have completed 50 actual driving hours [FSGDL-01] behind the wheel of a vehicle, including 10 hours of night driving.
