Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The applicant has to reach out to National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for the application. Contact details are mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page. Or here is the Contact Link
2. An application form is also available at the following Federal Fisheries Permit, Federal Processor Permit
3. The applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
4. Applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting.
5. The fee for this procedure has been mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
6. It takes at least 10 working days for the application to be processed.
7. Unless the applicant offers different instructions and send a prepaid mailer with appropriate postage or a corporate account number for expedited delivery, items will be shipped to you through first class mail.

Eligibility

Only persons who are U.S. Citizens are authorized to receive or hold a Federal Fisheries Permit.

Fees

• All applicants who plan to participate in directed fisheries for Pacific cod, pollock, and/or Atka mackerel with any gear type other than jig gear must also complete Block D (Federal Fisheries Permit).

Need for the Document

• No shore side processor of the United States, stationary floating processor (SFP), or a community quota entity (CQE) floating processor defined at § 679.2 may receive, process, purchase, or arrange to purchase unprocessed ground fish harvested in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) or Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area (BSAI), unless the owner or authorized representative first obtains an Federal Processor Permit (FPP).
• As an FFP holder fishing in State waters, the applicant is responsible to know whether their catch is deducted from a Federal Total Allowable Catch (TAC) or from the State Guideline Harvest Level (GHL) and to comply with Federal fishery requirements when their ground fish catch will be deducted from the Federal TAC.
