ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To obtain Commercial Vehicle Registration in person, the applicant has to visit an Auto plan broker nearest to their location.
  2. Address and their contact information can be found using the address locator in the following Contact link
  3. The applicant has to contact an autoplan broker who is easily accessible from their location. The broker may require the applicant to visit their office.
  4. While visiting the office, the applicants should carry the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The broker will direct the applicant to complete the forms required to be completed, with respect to the status of the vehicle.
  6. The applicant has to complete the forms with required details under the respective sections and attest it with their signature.
  7. Then, all the required documents should be attached with the completed forms.
  8. While submitting the application form and required documents to the broker, the applicant has to make the fees payment through any available mode.
  9. Fees details can be found in the “Fees” section of this page.
  10. After submitting the application package, the submitted application and attached documents will be assessed and verified.
  11. Processing of the application and assessment of the submitted information takes place for a time period of six to eight weeks.
  12. Upon completion of the assessment and verification, the applicant will be intimated through phone or email to collect the Registration Certificate.


Apply online

  1. To apply for Commercial Vehicle Registration online, the applicant has to visit the following link Apply Online
  2. In the page that opens, there will be two options for logging in to the portal and new registration.
  3. If the applicant already has the user details, they can click “Online Permits Login” option and proceed to login by entering the user details.
  4. If not, they should click “New User Registration” button to register as a new user. In the next page, list of instructions will be displayed.
  5. Before registering, the applicant should obtain an Insurance Corporation of British Columbia Client number by contacting the BC Provincial Permit Centre at 18005599688.
  6. After obtaining the ICBC client number, the applicant has to create a valid Business BCeID account by visiting the following website link: BCeID registration
  7. Visit the link and complete the BCeID by following the on screen instructions. The applicant can also contact the BCeID Helpdesk at 1-888-356-2741 for information regarding the registration.
  8. Then, the applicant should come back to the login page by clicking the following link Login page
  9. Enter the user details in the login page and proceed into the portal. After logging in, the applicant should proceed to complete the Online Registration form by filling in the relevant information.
  10. Refer the “Required Documents” section of this page, for knowing the required information.
  11. Follow the on screen instructions for completing the form and submit it by clicking the applicable button, after completing the online registration form.
  12. Also, pay the required fees by following the on screen instructions (if any). Fees details can be found in the “Fees” section of this page.
  13. The Provincial Permit Centre will then review the application and render a decision whether or not the request is approved.
  14. The applicant will be notified of the decision by e-mail at the address entered on the application form. In most cases, they will receive notification within 2 to 3 business days.
  15. On receipt of the notification, the applicant can collect the Registration Certificate, through any applicable means.

  • A vehicle owner in British Columbia, who has bought a new commercial vehicle, can apply.
  • A vehicle which is already registered to another person or company in British Columbia is eligible.
  • A vehicle which is brought from another territory or province to British Columbia is also eligible.
  • Vehicles that are brought from anywhere other than Canada into British Columbia, are also eligible.
