Apply In-Person:
- NOTE: In alignment with the guidance from Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Alberta Supports Centres are temporarily suspending in-person services until further notice. If you are currently receiving benefits or services and need assistance, call your caseworker or local office directly from Monday to Friday, between 8:15 am to 4:30 pm. All other enquiries, call the Alberta Supports Contact Centre at 1-877-644-9992, or in Edmonton 780-644-9992.
- To apply Income Support for Workers in person, the applicant has to visit the nearest Alberta Supports or Alberta Works Centre.

- Visit the centre with respect to your location and obtain the application form to apply Income Support for Workers and respective schedules as per the need, from the respective department.

- You can find the schedules to be attached with the application form with respect to the category, in the “Documents to Use” section in this page.
- After obtaining the necessary forms by following any of the methods mentioned above, the applicant should fill them up (either manually or electronically) with necessary details as per the requirement.
- Once completed, the applicant should endorse the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page, with the completed application form.
- The forms along with the supporting documents should be submitted to the relevant authority at the respective Supports or Works Centre.
- Upon receipt of the application form and supporting documents, the applicant will be intimated about the further steps.
- Then, the applicant will be asked to meet a worker in order to discuss about the submitted application.
- The applicant should take some required documents along with them, while going for the meeting.
- After the completion of the meeting and other necessary tasks, the applicant will be intimated when the application has been approved, through registered email address or mobile number.
- Within a stipulated period of time, the applicant will start receiving his/her income support, with respect to the application request.
Required DocumentsEdit
Documents to be submitted while submitting the form:
- Completed application form
- Completed Direct Deposit Registration
- Relevant schedules (with respect to the category)
- Additional sheets of application (in case if required)
- Receipts or any document supporting the additional costs
Documents to be submitted during meeting with the worker:
- Valid proof of Identification or document(s) with name, picture, signature and birth date for applicant, partner/spouse or financial administrator
- Valid proof of Identification or a document with full name and birth date (for dependants)
- Evidence of applicant’s income and/or other income
- Proof or any document to depict the value of assets
- Medical form/Letter (if unable to work)
- Any supporting document (as applicable)
- Papers of Immigration (where applicable)

- The applicant must live in Alberta and he/she must be at least 18 years old.
- The applicant must be a citizen of Canada or a permanent resident or a refugee or a refugee claimant.
- The applicant must be financially weak that they are unable to pay even for their basic needs.

InstructionsEdit
- Income Support recipients who have lost work and income because of COVID-19 can exempt a portion of the federal government’s Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), if they receive it.
- This means a portion of the CERB payment will not affect their provincial benefits. Refer for more information: relevant information
- Income Support recipients are encouraged and supported to work. You keep all of your wages and only a portion of your earnings are taken into account when calculating your Income Support benefits.
- If an overpayment happens you can respond to it before it becomes a debt. Once it becomes a debt, you will have to repay the benefits you were given that you were not eligible to receive.
- Report changes in your personal, financial or medical situation to your worker right away. Contact your worker if you see an overpayment in your monthly statement.
