Czech Republic - Apply for a Gun License (Individual)

ProcedureEdit

Go to the appropriate police department, which is the county police headquarters, Department of Services for weapons and security equipment, by place of residence of the individual, it means by the address of permanent residence of a citizen of the Czech Republic or address of permanent or temporary residence of foreigners.
Complete a form "Application for a Firearms Permit" or an "Extension Groups of Firearms License".
Submit the application form along with the required documents. (See below)
Pay the fees.

For first firearm permitEdit

completed application form
certificate of medical fitness to hold or carry a weapon and ammunition, not older than three months,
proof of professional competence to hold or carry a weapon and ammunition, not older than 1 year
1 photo of the specified dimension corresponding to the present form of the applicant, possibly other documents pursuant to the provisions of the Firearms Act (applies to applicants who have residence in yet another EU Member State or in the last 10 years prior to the application continuously stayed more than six months outside the Czech Republic ).

For extension of new firearms licenseEdit

certificate of medical fitness, which may not be older than 3 months
1 photo of the specified dimension corresponding to the present form of the applicant, possibly other documents pursuant to the provisions of the Firearms Act (applies to applicants who have residence in yet another EU Member State or in the last 10 years prior to the application continuously stayed more than six months outside the Czech Republic ).

For extension groups gun licenseEdit

proof of professional competence required for the group, which must not be older than 1 year,
certificate of medical fitness, which may not be older than 3 months, and
1 photo of the specified dimension corresponding to the present form of the applicant

ValidityEdit

Firearms license validity is 10 years. However, this could change upon the assessment of the applicant's health, which is for a period of less than 10 years.

InstructionsEdit

The request for a new firearms license holder shall submit a firearms certificate competent police department for at least two months and the first six months before the expiry of the current firearms license.
In the event that an individual has acquired ownership of the weapon category A, B or C or ammunition for this weapon inheritance and not the holder of the authorization they hold, is entitled to two months from the date when the decision on the heritage entered into force, apply for a firearms license, or for an exemption, permit or firearms waybill for export, import or transit of weapons and ammunition.

Need for the DocumentEdit

Gun license is a public document which entitles an individual to acquire and possess weapons and their ammunition within the scope of the powers provided for each group of gun license and within the scope of the permission to wear or to perform pyrotechnic survey by the permissions set for the Group F firearms license.

Firearm licenses are distinguished by purpose or use of weapons and ammunition by the scope of the authorization into groups ( 16 para. 2 of the Firearms Act):
A. for collection
B. for sporting purposes,
C. for hunting purposes,
D. the occupation or profession
E. to protect health, life or property,
F. to perform pyrotechnic survey.

In the event that an individual has acquired ownership of the weapon category A, B or C or ammunition for this weapon inheritance and not the holder of the authorization they hold, is entitled to two months from the date when the decision on the heritage entered into force, apply for a firearms license, or for an exemption, permit or firearms waybill for export, import or transit of weapons and ammunition ( 66 para. 1 of the firearms Act).
