- Personally submit a request to acquire Croatian citizenship to the police department or police station, unless the applicant is a person with a disability, then it may be submitted by a legal representative or assignee. Request to acquire Croatian citizenship by naturalization may be also be filed through the diplomatic missions / consular offices of the Republic of Croatia.
- Submit your request along with all other required documents.
- If the request for the acquisition of Croatian citizenship was lodged in Croatia, the police administration / police station will send a written invitation to come for an interview, with an indication of the need to pay an administrative fee in the amount indicated: the decision on admission to Croatian citizenship 1,500.00 kn accordance with the Tariff no. 12th, paragraph 2 Administrative Fees Act, the decision rejecting the application for admission to Croatian citizenship kn 50.00, pursuant to the Tariff no. Second Administrative Fees Act.
- Pay all necessary fees.
- Authorities will need to see the proof of payment the application fee, before issuing its decision regarding the application.
- Upon issuance of the decision, the new citizen of Croatia must have their natuaralization registered with the Civil Registry.
Required DocumentsEdit
- Request to obtain citizenship.
- CV, which briefly outlines the reasons for the application;
- Birth Certificate issued in the prescribed form in accordance with international treaties and conventions, and for people in a marriage and marriage certificate;
- Proof of citizenship status (citizenship certificate, a certified copy of a valid passport or ID card);
- Certificate of good conduct competent issued by foreign authorities of the country of which the applicants are nationals or country of their habitual residence, in original or a duly certified copy with translation into Croatian language and is not older than 6 months
- Valid identity documents, certified copies (passport, identity card for foreigners) with a clearly visible picture of the owner of the same
- administrative fee (stamps) in the amount of 20.00 kuna if the request is in the Republic of Croatia, and paid consular fee if the application is filed abroad.
- Additional requirements if applying with minor child:
- Birth Certificate of the child,
- Proof of citizenship status of the child,
- Birth Certificate and the marriage certificate of the legal representative of the child,
- Consent of a child (for those older than 14 years)
Other documents to be submitted under different cases:
- Acquisition of citizenship on the basis of residence in the Republic of Croatia documents proving regulated residence and length of stay in the Republic of Croatia (identity card for foreigners, a certificate of residence, travel document with the data entered on the stay)
- Acquisition of citizenship by birth in Croatia documents proving regulated residence and length of stay in the Republic of Croatia (identity card for foreigners, a certificate of residence, travel document with the data entered on the stay)
- Acquisition on the basis of marriage to a Croatian citizen documents proving the status of permanent residence (identity card for foreigners permanently residing in the Republic of Croatia, the decision on granting permanent residence in the Republic of Croatia), marriage certificate or marriage certificate not older than six months , certificate of citizenship of the spouse.
- Acquisition of citizenship by submitting documents proving that he/she is a citizen by virtue of national declaration in legal transactions - a certified copy of the work books, military records, certificates, index, extract from the register of births, marriages, etc., or the originals thereof, if they entered the data on ethnicity. Belonging to the Croatian people and proving the submission of evidence of protecting the rights and interests of the Croatian people moving and evidence of active participation in the Croatian cultural, scientific and sports associations abroad. If the parties are calling for people belonging hratskom their parents, along with the application submitted evidence confirming the declaration of a national parents.
- Members of the Croatian nation should submit documents proving himself a citizen by virtue of national declaration in legal transactions - a certified copy of the work books, military records, certificates, index, extract from the register of births, marriages, etc., or the originals thereof, if they entered the data on ethnicity and personally signed statement of belonging to the Croatian people (the form can be printed from the web site) , as well as evidence of a national declaration of parents.
- Acquisition of citizenship of immigrants : a certified copy of the travel or other public documents pursuant to which the person is moved from the Croatian abroad, if they are descendants of immigrants should prove kinship with migrant person (children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren)
- Acquisition of citizenship of aliens whose admission to Croatian citizenship would be of interest to the Community: recommendation or opinion of the competent ministries of the existence of the Croatian interests for admission to Croatian citizenship
- Those seeking asylum. If asylum is represented by agent: special power of attorney that authorizes the attorney for representation in the acquisition of Croatian citizenship.
- If the request for the acquisition of Croatian citizenship lodged a diplomatic mission / consular post of the Republic of Croatian foreign consular fee, in accordance with the Tariff Schedule 74th, 75th, 85th, 88th Law on Administrative Fees payable when applying directly to the diplomatic mission / consular office where the application is submitted, or at the bank.
- PU / PP or diplomatic mission or consular office of the Croatian abroad, according to the site of application, if the application of a party is unclear, incomplete or contain other formal defects, may subsequently invite the party to eliminate defects in the file, which foreigners will be sent a written invitation.

Citizenship granted will be charged an administrative fee in the amount of HRK 1,500.00 or the amount being charged by the Croatian diplomatic mission or consular office abroad, according to consular fees.
If the request is submitted in the Republic of Croatia, in the invitation specified amount of administrative fees payable to the post office / FINA / bank, by postal money order with a note:
