Procedure

1. To obtain a Single Status Certificate / Certificate of Celibacy (Certificat de Célibat et de Capacité Matrimoniale) you may go to your local civil status office to apply for one. If you are abroad you may go to the nearest Embassy of Cote Divoire to obtain the certificate.
2. At the embassy you will be asked to produce these documents:
   1. A birth certificate issued less than three months old bearing the words "for the purpose of marriage".
   2. A valid Ivorian ID (passport or the new card secured), For the passport: photocopy of the first page.
   3. Proof of address (EDF or France Telecom invoice or rent receipt)
   4. People living with a third party must also provide: certificate of accommodation and a photocopy of the identity document of the host: national identity card, residence card or passport.
   5. A piece of identification of the future spouse (national identity card, residence card or passport)
   6. Proof of payment of the application fee
   7. For widowed persons, produce the death certificate extract of the deceased spouse.
   8. For divorced people, produce the divorce decree and a certificate of no appeal.
3. Complete an application and submit it together with all the required documents.
4. Pay the application fee.
