Your nine-digit Social Security number is your first and continuous connection with Social Security. It helps to identify and accurately record your covered wages or self-employment earnings. It is also used to monitor your record once you start getting benefits.
Apply In-Person
- Prepare all the required documents that prove your Nationality, Age and Identity according to the requirements of the Social Security Agency. As shown in this link;Documents needed (navigate on the your left to find you the section that fits your criteria)
- Complete the application form. Read through the instructions carefully as you fill in the form.
- Application form can be downloaded and filled prior to the visit at the social security offices through this link: Application form
- Submit your application to the social security agency/office near you.
- Upon successful of your application, you document will be ascertained and the will begin to process your document.
Application by mail
You can complete the application by mailing your signed application form and documents to the relevant office of social security, Remember that all mailed documents will be returned to you by mail though the mail address you have provided.
