Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew for Repacker License in Ghana, the applicant must visit the Food and drugs authority (FDA) regional office in Ghana. Contact link
2. Then, the applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
3. Read carefully through the application form as there contain different section.
4. Please complete each section of this application form as a Word document then submit printed version of the completed form along with the copies of the supporting documents to the FDA regional and district office or the head office.
5. Make sure that his/her have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page. Pay the processing fees, upon which his/her will be issued with a receipt.
7. If the Expert committee formed by the FDA are satisfied that all the conditions are meet as required for the application, the applicant will be notified of the outcome and issued with the certificate by the register/authorized official.
8. Generally, the processing time for this procedure takes 1 month.

• Latest Passport sized Photograph of the Applicant
• Previous repacker license

Identification proof (Ghanaian card or driving license/ if any)

• PAN Card
• Copy of Rent Agreement and NOC of landlord (if rented property)
• NOC from the manufacturer (in case of Distributor) / NOC from Municipality or local body
• An E-Code document issued by DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade)
• Form of Nomination of persons by a Company along with the Board Resolution
• Any other documents that may be request by the FDA.

Eligibility

• Food Companies and Hotels , 3-star hotels and above, repackers, relabeling units, clubs, canteens all catering businesses irrespective of their turnover need to apply for the license.

Fees

• Refer to the FDA approved structure fees link or contact the FDA for fees and bank details.

Validity

• The tenure of the license issued is a maximum of 5 years and a minimum of 1 year.

Need for the Document

• Food Safety License Registration also very much mandatory documents for food Repackers in order to address the legal requirement. Type of FSSAI license would vary based on the type and scale of the repacker business.

Information which might help

• For repackaging & distribution, the license/registration for the marketer, distributor, supplier etc (Depending on the nature of the business) needs to be applied for. For 100% export of the food articles, the food license for export from the central food authority will have to be obtained.
• Repacking means packing of food product into different sizes with labelling after doing minimal processing as required like sorting, grading, sieving etc. from wholesale packages.
