Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Aeronautical Ground to Air station l (Glider, Hang Glider and Balloon) License or Permit in Ghana, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana.Contact link
2. Visit the GCAA office with an application letter made in writing and duly signed by a person authorised by the applicant to request for a Aeronautical Ground station (Airlines) License or Permit.
3. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
5. Applicant must attach all the required documents with the letter of application.
6. Then, submit the application package to the Director General at the office in person for further processes.
7. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the GCCA.
8. If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
9. The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the GCCA office and applicant get their license.
10. The processing time for this procedure takes 7 days.

Required Documents

• Application form
• Documents relating to proof of age date of birth, full name and nationality. (Copies of these documents must be legible and will be certified by licensing staff as true copies of the original. Where a document is printed in a language other than English, the applicant must provide a notarized translation).
• Two recent photographs (approximately 2 cm by 2.5cm) taken from the same negative (full face).
• Medical Certificate from authorized Civil Aviation Medical examiner.
• All personal flying Log Book(s) and/or ATO records, its entries certified by the relevant. Authorities e.g. Chief Flight Instructor, Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, etc.
• Evidence of qualification to meet the requirement for the issue/renewal of the license.
• Payment receipt of the prescribed fees.
