Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Aerodrome Licence in person, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana. link
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. After completing to fill the application form attach a valid authorization report from a relevant authority showing permission to use the place as an aerodrome construction site.
5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section or this page.
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
8. After the review exercise from CDF, the documents are forwarded to the National Special Force command committee for national security assessment. This committee include members from GCCA.
9. It will take close to 30 working days before review decision, security clearance and letter of no objection or objection are forwarded to GCAA.
10. Once all the documents are cleared a letter of no objection will be forwarded to GCAA. The applicant can now proceed to GCAA to apply for pilot flying permit.
11. The applicant applies to GCAA for an aerodrome permit with the documents outlined in the required document section.
12. The Processing time for this procedure is 1 month.

• An environmental impact assessment report.
• Approval from any relevant authority.
• Proof of financial capability.
• Particulars of any non-compliance or deviations from the appropriate aerodrome design, operation or equipment standards.
• Particulars of the airspace classification requirements; and charges as prescribed by the Authority in the Aeronautical
• Information Publication (AIP) or the Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC).

• License fees - 200,000 + 18% VAT

Validity

• This License is valid for a period of twelve months from the date of issue or renewal.

Need for the Document

• In accordance with GCAD Part 28 Subsections 28.9(2) and 28.9(3), pilots for commercial RPAS operations, pilots of large RPAS and pilots of RPAS with type certificate shall be required to obtain an Aerodrone License or permit. Also, as per GCAD Part 28 Subsection 28.9(11) no person shall act as an RPAS instructor unless authorized by the Authority.
