Apply In-Person:
- Apply to take goods out of an export processing zone/ bring goods into an export processing zone in person, the applicant must visit the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) or Ghana Free Zones Authority.

- Applicant must obtain the application form from the respective Authority.
- Fill in the application form as prescribed by the Authority. Please give full particulars of the applicant or company applying for the licence.
- Applicant must attached the all the required documents in the application form and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the GRA office.
- Upon receipt of an application, the Authority shall review the application to ensure that all the relevant documents are available to enable the processing of the application.
- Where, upon review of an application under sub-regulation, the Authority finds that the application is incomplete; the Authority shall request the applicant to provide additional information or clarify the information provided.
- The Authority shall, within three months after receipt of an application or additional information, investigate and prepare a detailed report in respect of the application to enable the processing of the application.
- After considering the application and the report, the Authority may grant a person approval certificate take goods out of an export processing zone/ bring goods into an export processing zone.
- The processing time for this procedure takes 30 days.
- Note: Where commissioner general rejects an application for removal of goods, the commissioner general shall cause an endorsement giving reason for rejection to be made on the reverse side of the application form informing the free port zone operator of the rejection.

- Any registered or business entity free zone company that is incorporated in Ghana for the sole purpose of taking goods out of an export processing zone and bring goods into an export processing zone are eligible.

- A person shall not take goods out of an export processing zone or bring goods into an export processing zone without the prior approval of the Commissioner General.
- Goods may only be taken out of an export processing zone or brought into an export processing zone for the purposes specified in the Act under the supervision of the Commissioner General.

- The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) was established on 31st August, 1995 by an Act of Parliament–1995 (Act 504), to enable the establishment of free zones for the promotion of economic development; to provide for the regulation of activities in free zones.
