Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Advertising License in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA). contact link
2. Applicants can be obtained the application form from AMA office.
3. Applicants must fill all the details in the application form.
4. Applicant has to enter the name, residential address and postal address and other details.
5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. Applicants must attach the payment receipt in the application form.
8. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the required documents section below with the completed application form.
9. Check the application form and then submit it to the respective officer in the AMA office. The address is mentioned in the office locations & contacts section below.
10. Now the authorities will verify the applicant’s application and validate the submitted documents.
11. After verification process, the applicant will be later requested to collect the license of advertisements.
12. The Processing time for this procedure is 1 month.

• Two samples of the product as registered by the AMA.
• Proposed script, example story sketch/story board for radio & TV and artwork for billboards.
• Audio and video if applicant so desire to facilitate the vetting process
• Evidence of Payment of Required Fees
• Authorization letter

Eligibility

• The advertisement must be for a registered product, unregistered products are not eligible for advertisement.

Fees

• Fees for this License: GHS.25, 000.

Validity

• Approved advertisements are valid for one year from the date of approval.

• Permission for display of advertisements by means of neon-signs, wall paintings or letters on balloons and advertisement on business premises such as shops, showrooms, cinema theatres, petrol pumps and offices, etc. is very much an essential part of business today.

Information which might help

• All products must first be registered before you apply for approval of advertisement
• Any alterations in the approved advertisement without prior notification and subsequent approval by the AMA shall render the advertisement null and void and shall attract sanction(s).
• No person or media shall advertise any product in the print, electronic media including internet or by any means unless such advertisement has been approved by the Authority (AMA)
