ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Accreditation of Journalists in Ghana, the applicant must go to the Ministry of the Interior, Ghana. contact link
  2. The applicant can collect the application Form from the office of the Ministry of the Interior.
  3. Fill the form with the right information to facilitate the process.
  4. Fill in all the necessary details in the application and submit with supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section, with corresponding fees. Fees listed below the “Fees” section of this page.
  5. Submit the completed form along with the supporting documents, which will be forwarded to the Director of Information Services Department in Accra for processing.
  6. Applicant will be notified of the outcome, if approved. On arrival in the country, report at the Information Services Department for accreditation before they undertake any assignment.
  7. The process takes two to three months. This is usually the case when applicants present all the documents the right way.
  8. If an application is rejected, the license fee shall be refunded back to the applicant.

EligibilityEdit

  • To be eligible for accreditation, a journalist needs to have a minimum of five years' professional experience as a full-time working journalist or a cameraperson in a news organisation, or a minimum of 15 years as a freelancer.



FeesEdit

  • A fee, the cedi equivalent of USD 80.00 per head covers only one visit.
  • A fee USD 200 per head is charged for the issue of accreditation covering a period of one year.



ValidityEdit

  • Accreditation validity is for 1 year.

  • 'Accreditation' means recognition of news media representatives by the Government of Ghana for purpose of access to sources of information in the Government and also to news materials, written or pictorial, released by the Press Information Bureau and/or other agencies of the Government of India.
