ProcedureEdit

  1. Fill in an application form to register a birth.
  2. Send the completed application form along with the original copies of the required documents stated below, to

  3. You will receive one certified copy of the birth certificate free at the registration. The original documents will be returned to you.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • An extract from Swedish Population Register (personbevis) giving details of the childs full names and date of birth as registered at the "folkbokfring", this should also give full details of both parents names, dates and places of birth.
  • A hospital certificate showing exactly which hospital the child was born at, or a letter confirming mother's name and the time and place of birth of your child.
  • The parent's marriage certificate if applicable.
  • If the parents are unmarried "declarations of paternity" must be completed by the mother and father and be witnessed by the Consul or a Notary Public. Forms are available from the Consulate General.
  • A copy of the Gambian passports of both parents

Need for the DocumentEdit

In Gambia, there is no obligation to register a child, but by doing so you will receive a Gambian-style birth certificate and a permanent record of the birth is maintained at the Consulate General.
