Procedure

1. To apply for a biometric passport, you must go in person to a municipal hall (or consular authority if you live abroad), equipped with the necessary supporting documents.
2. Applicants must be present while applying for a passport
3. Fill in the application form
4. You may be required to make an appointment to submit the application

You can apply for the electronic passports at the Consulate General of France

A passport is issued to an individual and certifies their identity, the conditions for issuance are more strict in terms of civil status and nationality.

The centralized production of the electronic passports prohibits immediate delivery.

However, in case of, a justified, emergency the Consulate can issue an emergency passport with a validity of one year.

The applicant, including minors, must appear in person at the Consulate or before an Honorary Consul to submit their application and return to pick up the passport.

Required Documents

If you have a secure identity card (plastic)

• Cerfa Form No. 12100 * 02 application (print after filling online or fill out on arrival)

• Revenue Stamps : 86 (Or 89 for an application abroad or overseas if the picture is taken directly at the counter)

• 2 identical photos

• Proof of residence : original + photocopy

• Identity card: original + photocopy

If you do not have an identity card (or only an older model card)

• Cerfa Form No. 12100 * 02 application(print after filling online or fill out on arrival)

• Revenue Stamps : 86(Or 89 for an application abroad or overseas if the picture is taken directly at the counter)

• 2 identical photos

• Proof of residence : original + photocopy

• Birth of less than 3 months (extracted with filiation or complete copy): original.

• If you were born in a town affected by the dematerialization of civil status documents , you do not need to produce a birth certificate.

• If the proof of marital status does not prove citizenship, a proof of French nationality  : original + photocopy

Fees

Payment is made In fiscal stamps

86 (adult) / 42 (15-17) / 17 (14 and under)

89 (adult) if the photo is taken at the counter.

Validity

5 years after issuance for citizens under the age of 18; 10 years for adults

Processing Time

Processing is normally 2 to 3 weeks

How ever processing depends on the place and time of the request. For example, the approach of the summer holidays, delays are likely to increase significantly.

if you specified a mobile phone number on the application form, you will receive a SMS when the passport is available

Passports must be collected within 3 months or they will be destroyed

• Whatever your location, you can apply for a passport from any city in France or any consulate or embassy of France abroad.
• Ambassadors and consuls authorized are competent to issue passports:
• It is no longer possible to register a minor child on the passport of one of its parents. Children must have their own passport.

Need for the Document

Territory of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands is a French overseas territory. The territory has no permanent civilian population. Those residents consist of visiting military personnel, officials, scientific researchers and support staff. Each district is headed by a district chief, who has powers similar to those of a French mayor (including recording births and deaths and being an officer of judicial police). Because there is no permanent population, there is no elected assembly, nor does the territory send representatives to the national parliament.

French passports are identity documents issued to French citizens for international travel and a proof of French citizenship. French southern territory residents are issued with French passports.
