ProcedureEdit

  1. Go to a police department to report the incident.
  2. The police can then cancel the card on request and revoke its citizen certificate.
  3. Apply for a new identity card.
  4. Pay the fee.

  • 1 photograph (preferably black and white) (no more than 6 months old)
  • a reliable proof of identity

Note:
Finland has introduced new guidelines for passport photos. The aim of these requirements is to standardize passport photos and improve the verification of passport holders identities. In cases of lost or stolen identity card, it must always be reported to the police.

When the card has been put on a revocation list, the card holder no longer will be responsible for the use of the certificates.

Note: Remember that an identity card reported missing or stolen can only be used as a travel document after the card holder has presented it to the police and reported it found.
