Apply In-Person:
- The death certificate must be obtained in the Fiji’s Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) Office. Contacts
- The applicants must give details of deceased person, such as Name, Date of Death, and Place of Death.
- The officials in the office will verify the death registration details.
- Make Sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After giving the necessary documents to the authorities in the office, they will verify the identity.
- Then, the applicant must pay the prescribed fee.
- After the payment, the applicants will be issued with the death certificate.
Apply Overseas:
- The applicants residing in any of the overseas countries must visit the nearest embassy or consulate of Fiji in the country. Contacts
- The application must be filled with the necessary details.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section.
- The Embassy's consular service section will help in the process, and then will issue the Death Certificate to the applicants.

- It is compulsory to register every death in Fiji.
- Registration of death is a legal requirement under the Fiji Births, Deaths and Marriages Act 1975.
