Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant must replace the passport at Main Department For Immigration and Nationality Affairs in Ethiopia contact link
2. Replacement is done in case of lost or stolen passports.
3. Applicant must apply for a new passport immediately.
4. Applicant should make sure to fill-in necessary details in the application form.
5. Applicant must carry all related documents for the procedure to complete while applying for this procedure.
6. Documents that are necessary for this procedure to complete are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. A fee of $117 has to be paid for getting a new passport.
8. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents along with the application form while submitting.
9. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed properly, applicant can get their passport within one week by visiting the office or via post.
   

Apply Online

1. For replacement of a passport, applicant has to visit the following portal link
2. After clicking on the required option, a procedure for application is provided in it.
3. Applicant must read all instructions carefully before undergoing the application procedure.
4. After making themselves clear of the application procedure, applicant must click on “Apply Now” button.
5. On the following page, appointment scheduling is given clearly.
6. Applicant must read all terms and conditions and check on the box which is before “I agree to the terms and conditions”.
7. Finally, click on “Start Individual Appointment” tab below.
8. On the following tab, a list of appointments is provided, applicant must click on “Renewal/Replacement Appointment”.
9. The next page shows a list of services that is needed. Applicant must choose the reason for which they are replacing their passport.
10. For example, if replacement service is required because of an expired passport, then, they have to click on “Expired Passport” option.
11. On the next portal, applicant must enter all details – “Select site location”, “Select city”, “Select office” and then click on the “Next” option.
12. The following page provides an estimated delivery date. E.g. Estimated delivery date is Jul 12, 2021.
13. Applicant must click on “Next” option.
14. On the next page, applicant has to fill in the necessary details that are requested in the application form – Personal Details, Address, Family, and Passport Info.
15. Applicant must upload digital copies of documents as an attachment before submitting the application form.
16. Fee for this procedure can be paid online.
17. After all the above-mentioned procedures are followed properly, applicant must click on “Submit” button.
18. The passport will be delivered to the applicant as mentioned in the “Estimated Delivery Date” (point no. 12).
