Procedure

To provide financial support to the poor widows of India, the widow pension scheme was introduced in India. A widow whose household is below the poverty line is eligible to get the benefits of pension scheme.

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for Widow Pension,you have to approach the Social welfare,Women& Child Development.

4. Fill all the necessary details in the application form.
5. Attach all the Required Documents as mentioned in the Required Documents section along with the form and submit it to concerned officer in the Social welfare,Women& Child Development.
6. Pay the appropriate fees as per authorities quote. You will be given an acknowledgement keep it safe for future reference.
7. Application Form duly filled up in all respect and verified by the Tehsildar, UT, Chandigarh supported with Medical report from the PMO, General Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh or any Govt. Dispensary verifying the age of the applicant by appearance.
8. After all the verification they will credit your pension amount each month to your bank account.

Apply In-Person for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

1. To apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme,visit the Department of Public Relations, Chandigarh Administration.

3. Get the application form from the Concerned Officer or write it on an A4 sheet.
4. Fill the application form with all the necessary details.
5. Attach all the Required Documents as mentioned in the Required Documents section along with the form and submit it to the concerned officer in the Department of Public Relations.
6. Pay the appropriate fees as per authorities quote.
7. You will be given an acknowledgement keep it safe for future reference.
8. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
9. If sanctioned, beneficiary shall be issued a Pension Passbook.

Apply through Centres:

1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
4. The operator will process the application online.
5. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
6. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
7. If verified, the applicant will be permitted for pension.

• Two passport size photographs.
• Residence Proof for the last three years duly attested (Voter Identity Card, Ration Card, Electricity Bill)
• Copy of Death Certificate of her husband.
• In case of Destitute Women, a copy of FIR regarding missing person.
• Income Certificate.

Eligibility

Criteria for the grant of this benefit is as under:

• The widow should be in the age group of 18-59 years.
• The widow should not have any financial support.
• The widow must have been resided in UT, Chandigarh for more than 3 years at the time of making an application.
• The widow who belong to the family wherein their family income does not exceed Rs.12500/- per.month.

Eligibility to apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

• The applicant must be from BPL category (with a valid BPL id)
• The applicant must be a widow.
• The applicant age is between 40-79 years.

Validity

• It is valid forever.
