- Ethiopian Electricity Power Corporation has partnered with different banks for making bill payments easy for their customers.
- The Customer has to go their respective banks with their bill or customer reference number.
- The Customer has to present the reference number to the cashier at the counter in the bank along with the amount that is to be paid.
- The cashier collects the amount and customer reference number and then issues a receipt.
- No extra fee is charged for this process. The customer only has to pay the bill amount.
- The process gets completed within a day.

- Customer has to provide their customer reference number to get details on how much amount has to be paid by them.
- After getting details on their bill, the customer has to pay the respective amount and get the receipt for their payment.

- With the help of online apps, the customer can easily pay their monthly electricity bills.
- Customer who wishes to use this service must be a subscriber in one of the partnering telecom companies.
- The customer has to enter their customer reference number under the pay electrical bill option and pay the respective amount by entering their password.
- If payment is successful, the customer gets a message on their mobile phones.
- No more additional fee is charged for this process. The customer only pays the bill amount.
- The process will get completed within a day.
- Pay using ATM
- As part of the effort of The Ethiopian Electricity Power Corporation to promote e-payment and run a cashless society, they have introduced utility payment via ATM/POS; the customer’s account is debited while the Ethiopian Electricity power corporation account is credited via virtual transfer on the ATM machine and POS, a transaction fee is charged and an e-receipt issued to customers at the end of transaction.
- In this form, the Ethiopian Electricity Power Corporation has partnered with different banks to ensure that its customers can easily clear their electricity bills by use of Auto Teller Machines.
- This method is also convenient for customers with Digital meters
- A customer must start by opening up an account in any of the partnering bank and ensure that they can obtain a bank card of the selected bank;
- Insert the bank card in the ATM machine of the same bank;
- Select an appropriate language for you;
- Enter your PIN number (this is given by the bank at the time of receiving the bank card;
- Then select the option other services;
- Then select the option recharge services;
- Then select Company supply you power;
- Thereafter enter the customer meter number;
- Select the prompt Proceed
- Then select the amount you want to pay. In this case, if the amount exceeds 100,000, select the option other amounts;
- Thereafter confirm the amount;
- Thereafter a slip with a pin number shall be issued, take the slip and enter pin in the digital mete to recharge the account.

- For businesses, Certificates of ownership entitlement for the organization and/or Articles and Memorandum of Association.
- A Duly Signed Account Opening form for Foreign Currency Bank Account.
- Two specimen signature card.
- Two Recent Passport Photos.
- Identification card (i.e.) Ethiopian Original ID, Voters Card or passport.
- Utility bill for resident.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- All Ethiopian nationals and foreign nationals of Ethiopian origins living and working abroad outside Ethiopia for more than one year are free to open up a Diaspora foreign currency Bank Account.
- Ethiopian and naturalized Ethiopian Diaspora with Ethiopian origin ID may open a foreign currency and convertible birr accounts in Ethiopia.

Diaspora Bank Account
This is a deposit account targeted for Ethiopians in Diaspora to open and use foreign currency account at home country of the individual.
- Individuals and companies can open this account.
- This account can serve as collateral to get credit in local currency from domestic banks in line with the opening banks credit policy.
Deposit is made in one or more of the following currencies:
- US Dollar
- Pound Sterling
- Euro
- Deposits that are made in other convertible currencies such as Canadian Dollar, Saudi Riyal, Japanese Yen, Australian Dollar and UAE Dirham shall be converted to any of the above stated three currencies at spot exchange rate based on the preference of the account opener.
- Interest rate on such accounts shall be double of the minimum saving deposit rate set by the National Bank of Ethiopia, currently it is 10%.
- Money can neither be transferred from this account abroad nor from the local currency to any foreign currency.
