Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To obtain a Clinical Officer Private Practice License the applicant has to approach has to contact clinical officer council offices contact link1 or the applicant has to approach Ministry of Health Ethiopia contact link2
2. The authority provides an application form. The Applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
3. Applicant must make sure to carry documents that are listed under “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals) or in the section Clinical Officers Council's Registration Requirements page link
4. Applicant has to attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made as per the request of authority officer or in the Clinical Officers Council's payment details page link
6. After the verification of the documents is done the council will issue the license within 60days.
7. The applicant is intimated to collect the license once it is ready by receiving SMS or E- mail.
8. The Council has the power to refuse to register any person who has not complied with any of the provisions of the regulations, and the decision of the Council is final.

• Copies of termination of service (either by resignation, retirement or end of contract
• Clearance certificate from immediate former employment
• Committee sits quarterly to deliberate and make decisions
• Feedback given to applicant of the decision
• Applicant required to submit original inspection report from county/ sub- county hmt

Eligibility

A clinical officer who has rendered flawless medical or dental services in the service of the Government or in the service of any organization or institution approved by the Council, for a period of not less than ten years.

Fees

Fee for the procedure has to be paid as per the authority request.

Validity

License will renewed every year.

A registered Clinical officer who wishes to practice as a Clinical officer should apply to the Council for a licence in the prescribed form.

Need for the Document

• A clinical officer should not engage in private practice unless he/she has been issued with a valid private practice licence by the Clinical Officer Council.
• The license allows the clinical officer to engage in private practice on his/her own behalf or to be employed either full-time or part-time by a clinical officer or a medical practitioner or dentist engaged in private practice.
