Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for getting a special pass in Ethiopia is available in Main Department for Immigration and Nationality Affairs -Link
2. Application form has to be obtained from the office and enter all necessary information.
3. All documents that are needed for this procedure to complete are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. Applicant must carry both photocopies and originals of all those documents while applying for this procedure.
5. Attach photocopies of documents along with the application form (whichever is necessary).
6. Processing is free of charge. However, applicant has to pay Issuance Fees and Special Pass Fees.
7. If all necessary information is provided along with the needed documents, applicant can get their special pass within a week.
8. If the pass is refused or if it takes more than a week for the procedure to complete, applicant can visit the office to know status of their application.

Eligibility

• Foreigners who are residing in Ethiopia are eligible for getting a special pass.
• Foreigners who are temporarily conducting any business, trade or a profession in Ethiopia are eligible.
  

Fees

Processing is free of charge. However, applicant has to pay Issuance Fees and Special Pass Fees.

Validity

Special Pass is only valid for 1 month.
