Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Shipping Agency License or Permit, the applicant has to approach the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety (EAFMS). contact link
2. Letter of application from owners of the ship or their agents addressed to the Director General, EAFMS indicating the company’s interest in obtain Shipping Agency License in Egypt.
3. Letter of Application for approval of vessels name. This is done by completing and submitting the required Form at the Ship Registry.
4. Letter of Application for condition survey Application for condition survey shall be made to the Director General, upon payment of a statutory fee fees payable depends on the gross tonnage of the vessel. A surveyor would be nominated by the Registrar of Ships for the survey.
5. Completion and submission of forms.
6. Declaration of ownership (Form 1) this form shall be completed by the owner of the Vessel and return after declaration before a Commissioner for Oath at the High Court.
7. Application shall be obtained at Ship registry. Duly completed forms shall be returned to registry department with the attached document.
8. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
9. On completion of this process, EAFMS will issue to the applicant a license.
10. The processing time for this procedure takes 1-3 months.

Eligibility

• Any individual who owns a shipping agency in Egypt or willing to start a shipping agency in Egypt is eligible.

Fees

• Application fee: 50,000
• License fee: Permit 1.500,000

Validity

• Valid for 1 year and a renewal is required.
