Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Investment Bank License in person, the applicant has to approach the Central Bank of Egypt.
2. Address and contact details can be found in the following Contact link
3. Visit the office of CBE with an application letter for the grant of a licence to carry on the business of banking in Egypt.
4. The application should be addressed to the Director of Banking Supervision Department, Central Bank of Egypt.
5. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Attach all the documents with the application letter and submit it to the Director of Banking Supervision Department.
7. Then, pay the non-refundable application and licensing fees required for the processing of the application and the license by following the instructions of the officials.
8. Amount of non-refundable application and licensing fees can be found in the “Fees” section of this page.
9. After assessing the application and attached documents, CBE will initially issue an Approval-In-Principle.
10. Not later than six months after the grant of Obtain Investment Bank License promoters of a proposed bank must submit another application for the grant of a final banking license.
11. The application should also contain some of the documents in support for the grant of the final license.
12. Once the verifications of all the documents and application has been done, the applicant will be informed through phone or email to collect the final license.
13. The Processing time for license is up to 20 to 25 working days.

Eligibility

• Any organization in Egypt, that intends to set up an Investment bank and involve in banking business, can apply.

Fees

• The applicant should pay a non-refundable application fee of EGP 500000.00
• Non-refundable licensing fee is EGP 5000000.

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.
