Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Electrical B License, the applicant has to approach the State Electricity Licensing Board link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
10. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
11. Once everything is approved the authority will issues the license.
12. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Eligibility

• The Proprietor or the Managing Partner Director should have attained the age of 25 years and should have passed a minimum educational qualification of VIII Standard.

Fees

• The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as per the authority’s request.

Validity

• The validity of Electrical B License is 5 years.

Instructions

• Applicants must complete the application form before submitting it. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
• Applicants must provide genuine information while applying for this procedure.

Establishment: The applicant shall employ the following minimum staff on full time basis solely for the purpose of Contract works;

• Two persons holding a valid Supervisor Competency Certificate granted by this Electrical Licensing Board one of whom should be a graduate Engineer or Diploma Engineer with an experience of not less than 5 years in the case of former and 10 years in the case of latter in the execution of at least 5 Nos. [H.V.works Link] and 2 Nos. E.H.V. works involving transformer erection producing satisfactory evidence.
• One qualified draughtsman with a certificate in draughtsmanship or a diploma in Electrical Engineering producing evidence.
• (Two Wiremen holding valid Wiremen Competency Certificate granted by this Electrical Licensing Board

• Age and qualification along with evidence
• Father/ Husband's Name
• Present business of the applicant
• Whether holding a competency certificate and if so the number and validity of the competency certificate
• Whether he is presently employed anywhere, if so the name and address of the employer If not, details of the present business
• If holding a competency certificate, details of previous experience with period. If the applicant has worked under a contractor, licensed by this Licensing Board, the name address and license No. Of the contractor.
• Name and designation of authorized signatory if any in the case of limited company
• Whether any application for Contractor's license was made previously? If so, details thereof.
• Details of Staff appointed on full time basis

Need for the Document

• With Electrical B license, the applicant can take work from any of the electrical maintenance contractors below sub-contractor (ESB) and Grade A contractor (EA) and under 50 KW. It is the first level of electrical contractor license. The applicant can apply these electrical contract license for small building electrical services.
