Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a Petroleum Business License in person, the applicant must approach The General Petroleum Company (GPC) Contact Link
2. Information related to the respective office and License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. The applicant must fill in all the required application form for this procedure.
5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. A fee for this procedure is has to be paid as per the authority’s request. Fee cannot be submitted, the correct term is pay.
7. Submit the completed forms along with the supporting documents at the respective office for verification and processing.
8. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the authority.
9. If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
10. After getting the notification from concerned authorities, applicant can visit the office to collect their document.
11. After the notified period applicant gets certificate as per applicable delivery norms.
12. If there is no information regarding the application, then, the applicant can visit the office to know status of the application.
13. The Processing time for this procedure is 1 month.

Need for the Document

• A provisional license will initially be granted and issued to all applicant companies requiring Petroleum business Licenses.  Under this license, applicant companies cannot lift products directly from the Tema Oil Refinery, the depots or any other refinery except through the sponsoring General Petroleum Company.

• General Petroleum Company (GPC) was established in 1957 under the Republican Decree No. 730 with a capital of one million Egyptian pounds to undertake upstream and downstream activities. GPC is the first national oil company in Egypt, Middle East and Africa. Throughout 60 years of activities, 28 oil and gas producing fields in the Eastern Desert, Gulf of Suez, Sinai and Western Desert have been discovered.
