Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for the National Program card for the Prevention and Control of Malaria in Pregnancy (Cartão do Programa Nacional de Prevenção e Controle da Malária na Gestação), the applicant has to approach the Local Health Care Facility or Ministério da Saúde (Ministry of Health) link
  2. Based on the evaluation, a healthcare professional will develop a treatment plan that may include vision-related treatments, medications, or assistive devices.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  8. The fee for health care program card is free of cost.
  9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  12. If your application is approved, you will receive your National Health Care Program Card.
  13. This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

  • The National Program card for the Prevention and Control of Malaria in Pregnancy in Brazil (PNICP-M) is a government program that provides free malaria prevention and treatment services to pregnant women living in areas with moderate to high malaria transmission.   • The PNICP-M has been effective in reducing the incidence of malaria in pregnancy in Brazil. In 2003, the prevalence of malaria in pregnancy was 12.5%. By 2019, the prevalence had decreased to 1.6%.
  • The program has also been effective in reducing the risk of complications and death from malaria in pregnant women and their babies.
