Need for the DocumentEdit

  • There is no such thing as a National Program for the Humanization of Hospital card. However, there are a number of programs that aim to humanize hospitals and make them more welcoming and supportive environments for patients and their families.
  • One such program is the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP), which was developed by the John A. Hartford Foundation. HELP is a comprehensive program that helps hospitals improve the care of older adults by addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs. The program includes a number of interventions, such as reducing noise levels in hospitals, providing comfortable seating for patients and their families, and offering supportive services such as massage therapy and music therapy.
  • Another program that aims to humanize hospitals is the Planetree model. Planetree is a patient-cantered care model that focuses on creating a healing environment for patients and their families. The model emphasizes the importance of communication, teamwork, and respect for patients' wishes. Planetree hospitals have been shown to improve patient satisfaction, reduce length of stay, and lower costs.
