ProcedureEdit

How to Apply:

  1. You should visit any Offices of the Department of Social Services,Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for more information on how to file the application with them.
  2. Accurately fill in the application form, which can be obtained from the offices mentioned in (1) or click the link below to download.(Registration of Beneficiary Form)
  3. Submit the completed form along with the required supporting documentation (as listed below)to the office above either in person or by post office.
  4. You will then be summoned by for an assessment meeting by the department Social and Community Development Officer would capture any additional necessary information at the time of the meeting, and subsequently conduct the necessary research and investigations into the your financial situation.
  5. Once investigation process is completed and a decision is made, you will be contacted and advised of the outcome of your applicant and the way forward if approved.

Applicants must submit proof of Botswana nationality at the time of application by way of:

  • National Identification Card (Omang).
  • Passport.
  • Birth Certificate.

EligibilityEdit

Any Botswana citizen, registered as destitute, with the Department of Social Services. Destitute persons are those:

  • Whose monthly income does not exceed BWP120.00 (without dependents) or BWP150.00 (with dependents).
  • Who do not own more than 4 herds of cattle.
  • Who do not own more than 16 herds of small livestock such as goats, sheep, etc.
